The Veteran’s committee would like to welcome our transferees, new hires and temporary members to the UAW Local 31 family.
Returning Veteran’s can receive help launched by companies in the Information Technology industry to educate, train, certify and provide job placement assistance. The program is Creating Futures and veterans will have the knowledge and skill level they need to start a rewarding career in Information Technology. The program is tailored to help individuals with various skill levels and is free for all participants. Organizational sponsors such as HP, Xerox and Ricoh cover the cost.
Individuals who have honed their computer skills in the military will be taught how to transfer those skills to civilian life, and those who are new to Industrial Technology will be taught the basic skills they need to pursue a career.
Returning veterans, people with disabilities, youth-at-risk and dislocated workers interested in participating in the program should visit www.creatingfutures.us for information on how to participate.
If you are a Vietnam Veteran and live in the State of Missouri, you are eligible to receive a Vietnam War Medallion. Application forms are available from the Veterans Committee.
The Veteran’s Committee would like to thank the membership for their support over the past three years. With your help, we exceeded our goals as a Committee to provide needed services to the Veterans in the Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri areas.
